Maternity Photography

Your proudest moment in a relaxed style

Be proud of your baby bump

Maternity Photography.

The goal of the maternity session is to capture lovely images of your pregnancy for you to look back on in the future. In the final weeks of your pregnancy, you may be apprehensive about showing your baby bump and may feel anything but gorgeous, but…

I can assure you that you will not be sorry for having a maternity photo shoot; you will look back and cherish your baby bump. In fact, many mothers who come to me for newborn images often expressed their regret for not had their maternity photoshoot.

With you, your partner, and any siblings present, my goal is to document this extraordinary moment. The emphasis of the maternity photography will be on your growing belly and the affectionate relationship between you and your partner or family members.

The majority of my pregnancy photoshoots take place outside since it’s lovely to display your bump amidst sunshine and the great outdoors. However, if the weather isn’t in our favour, we can also take them in the warmth of your house.

Never had a professional photoshoot before? You probably have some questions when comes to maternity or pregnancy announcement photography.

FAQs about maternity photography sessions

When is the best time to schedule a maternity photography session?
I, as many photographers, recommend scheduling your maternity session between 28 and 36 weeks of pregnancy. This timeframe captures your baby bump beautifully while ensuring you are still comfortable during the shoot.
What should I wear for my maternity photoshoot?
Opt for outfits that accentuate your pregnant belly, such as stretchy or lace materials. Solid colors work best, and it's advisable to avoid tank tops unless layered with a cardigan or long jacket. If you want to learn more please see my article about this topic within my blog section on this page.
Can I include my family in the maternity photos?
Yes, I would encourage including your partner and older children in the session to create family-oriented images that showcase the love for your unborn baby. It's often suggested to bring an extra adult to help manage children during individual shots.
Do I need to know how to pose for the maternity photoshoot?
No prior experience is necessary. I will guide you through poses to ensure you feel comfortable and look your best, capturing genuine emotions and meaningful connections.
Should you invest in a professional hair and makeup for the maternity session?
Professional hair and makeup can enhance your confidence and it's a way to pamper yourself during this special time, ensuring you look and feel your best. However, is not really necessary and if is done needs to be done as natural as possible. Please feel free to read my how to do you own makeup for photo shoot in the blog section below.
Where will the maternity session take place?
Maternity photography sessions can be held in various locations, including outdoor settings during golden hour for soft lighting or indoor with ample natural light. The choice depends on your preference and on what offering you chosen during our initial conversation.
What if I'm feeling insecure about my appearance during pregnancy?
It's natural to feel self-conscious during pregnancy. My aim is to make you feel beautiful and comfortable, using poses and lighting that highlight your best features. Communicating any concerns with me will help to tailor your maternity photography or pregnancy announcement session to your comfort level.
