Table of Contents

If you are planning your big day and you are considering an intimate wedding or an elopement, then I would love to document your special day. But have you ever wondered why you should consider an intimate wedding?

What is an intimate wedding?

An intimate wedding is commonly referred to as a wedding that has a smaller number of attendees than a regular wedding. They’re small, much smaller than a traditional party, with anywhere from 10 – 30 guests.

Yep, we’re talking close-knit, heart warming vibes here. These are the people you’d happily share your last slice of cake with—your ride-or-die crew, immediate family, and those friends who’ve seen you through thick and thin.

Why you should consider an intimate wedding?

Well, there’s many reasons, but I’ll list a few of them:

  • Less stress, which means you’ll enjoy every moment of your big day.
  • A more personal and intimate atmosphere.
  • You’ll focus more on you, and subsequently, you’ll focus on details.
  • A relaxed timeline.
  • You spend quality time with all your guests.
  • You surround yourself with people who love you.
  • You can savour your day wholly and completely.
  • It is a more authentic reflection of your personalities and values.
  • Your chances to find a unique venue are higher.

The small intimate wedding in Hook, Hampshire

I will always remember Chanelle & Thomas’s wedding. I had a connection with Chanelle from the beginning, when she enquired with me. I remember her telling me that she is dreaming about a small wedding, where she will have 10 guests including herself and Thomas. I could picture everything we discussed, but the reality was a lot more beautiful.

After our discussions prior to the wedding, we met for an engagement session, which in fact became a Save The Date session, where I invited their little boy and girl to join their session. I always encourage all the couples booking a wedding with me, to meet before the event.

This helps a lot, especially if you are not very comfortable in front of the camera. After meeting me, you will see that all the stress was for no reason, and I will make everything go so smoothly.

Few weeks after our initial session, their big day was about to happen. The ceremony took place in Newbury, at The Register Office for West Berkshire Council. There were three beautiful ceremony rooms available on the ground floor at Shaw House, a 16th century building with an abundance of character and set in beautiful grounds. Their ceremony room was perfectly suited for Chanelle and Thomas, who wanted a small, personal ceremony.

They have chosen a stunning location at West Green House and Gardens, near Hartley Wintney, in Hook. Nestling in a woodland corner of Northern Hampshire, the gardens of West Green House surround one of the prettiest manor houses in England. I was absolutely amazed by the decor of the Orangery, a building that dates from the 1770’s, which is a delightful and intimate space for a small wedding.

Everything was so beautiful, it felt like you stepped into a fairytale. The table décor, the Orangery itself, the gardens, the house; it was all around simply gorgeous. What I loved about this wedding was that I felt so welcomed, like I was a guest, a friend of them, a family member. Being such an intimate environment, everyone had quality time to spend with the bride and groom and all day was so relaxed, which meant no stress, no rush, no pressure.

There was plenty of time for couple photos and group photos too. We had lots of fun, I had time to explore the gardens to find the best spots for photos whilst they enjoyed their wedding meal. We then went together to the spots I found, and we captured some lovely moments which they will cherish forever. After that, we went back where all guests joined for some more photos. We opened some champagne to do the “champagne spray” photos, which were great fun and laughter for all of us.

Therefore, if you’re considering a small wedding, you should go for it. You will have time to spend with all your guests, which will focus more on you, and you will surround yourself with your best friends and closer family. I can say a small intimate wedding is a more authentic reflection of your personalities and values, and you will feel less stressed, which will enable you to enjoy every moment of your big day.

I look forward to hearing your love story and to document it with passion and attention to details. I promise to say your love story through my lens exactly as it is. And remember, small on numbers, big on love will always be my way of looking at an intimate wedding..
