How to Get Ready for Your Mother’s Day Mini Session. 7 Essential Questions Answered for Hampshire Moms

If you are a “Hampshire mom” and have booked one of my Mother’s Day mini sessions, you might wonder how to prepare for your dream photoshoot. I have created this mini guide to help you plan this day in time, just so you can relax and enjoy this motherhood mini photography session.
Perhaps some of the most asked questions are:
- “How should I prepare for my session?”
- “What should I wear for my Mother’s Day photoshoot?”
- “What to avoid when choosing my outfit?”
- “How should I pose for the best photos?”
- “Can my partner join this session?”
- “Which package should I choose?”
- “When will the photos be ready?”
I will answer all your questions in this blog, to make everything as smooth as possible.
Top 7 questions from Hampshire moms for my Mother’s Day photography session
1. “How should I prepare for my session?”
Given the nature of these sessions, which are either 10 or 20 minutes long, the best piece of advice I can give you is to make sure your little ones are well rested, and they’ve had a snack and drink before coming in. Make sure you arrive 5 minutes before your chosen slot, so that you can use your full 10 or 20 minutes before my next client arrives.

2. “What should I wear for my Mother’s Day photoshoot?”
The colour scheme of the decor is neutral and bright, which works well with almost everything. My moodboard includes soft/floral/earthy vibes – exactly like us mums. The setup is made of a backdrop with flowers arrangements in earthy pastels and boho décor.
My go-to outfits are made of soft and neutral tones, which will always photograph well, e.g. pastels or greys/beiges/whites/creams. I recommend using a variation in colours for each person as well as mixing up different textures (denim/cotton/wool/linen, etc). This will add depth and texture to your images.
3. “What to avoid when choosing my outfit?”
I always say to stay away from very bright colours, or overly patterned clothes as this will take all the attention in your photos. I want these photos to focus on the connection between you and your little ones. Another thing you should avoid is logos and printed brands on your clothing. I am happy to assist you when choosing your outfit, should you need any help.
You can always send me a picture with your few choices, and I’ll be happy to help you decide. All I want is for you to get the best outcome from our photoshoot. I want you to walk away with priceless memories to cherish forever.
4. “How should I pose for the best photos?”
My sessions are very relaxed and I am usually guided by your connection with your loved ones. Lots of cuddles, kisses, tickling and laughter describes the best the way my sessions happen.
We will go with what feels natural to you and I will guide you through with easy prompts to help you enjoy the moment and get those lovely, connected images at the same time. You know best what works for you and your children, you know what makes them smile and this will make the session feel natural, without being forced.
5. “Can my partner join this session?”
Absolutely. I encourage your partner to join you. This is a good (and cheeky) opportunity to update your family photos. There’re never enough photos with all of you in them. One of you is usually missing because it’s behind the camera. So why not take this opportunity to create lasting memories?

6. “Which Mothers’ Day package should I choose?”
My packages are designed to fit all budgets. You can choose a package with more photos, or you can even choose my Luxe package which includes a short keepsake film, perfect to share with your friends and family.
If you have decided you want more photos after you’ve seen your gallery, you can then upgrade for more photos. The only thing that can’t be added afterwards is the keepsake film as I need to know beforehand, otherwise I will not be filming.
If you’re not sure what package to choose, get in touch before paying your remainder (due 7 days before your session) and I can help you make the best choice for your investment. Because let’s be honest, photography is an investment. You’re investing in your family memories, and at the end of the day, this has no price, but it’s the best investment you can make for your loved ones.
7. “When will my Mother’s Day photos be ready?”
I am aiming to send a preview of your galleries within 7 days of your session, to make sure you have your photos in time for Mother’s Day. These will be presented to you via an online private gallery so you will have your own home comfort, either is Hampshire based or is in the surrounding counties.
After you choose your favourites, you’ll also be able to order prints. These will be carefully packaged and delivered to your address. I am so excited to meet all of you (or to see you again if you’re a returning client).
Remember, all my returning clients receive a 10% discount for all bookings. This applies to the package price and upgrades.
