My Lavender Field Photoshoot Guide

Table of Contents

Beautiful splashes of lavender against an endless sky in a wonderfully symmetrical lavender field… is this not the quintessential setting for gorgeous family photos, engagement photos, or maternity photos?

Think about what to wear at the lavender fields

Before the photoshoot think about your outfit and how it can complement your surroundings. What you wear can really change the look and feel of your photographs. You can’t go wrong with white, cream, light grey and blue.

If you want to add a pop of colour yellow works well against the purple of the lavender. Dark or denim blue and fuchsia also make for great colour combinations against the lavender glow of the fields. Try to avoid wearing black.

The aim is for your family to look coordinated, but not matching. By choosing 2-3 colours for your family to wear, each family member will look different, but you will avoid looking too ‘busy’ (clashing colours, too many colours), or looking like one colour block (too much of the same colour).

Having fun is what’s important, so wear something that makes you feel wonderful. It will show in the photos!

Pose with a bouquet of dried lavender

It can be tricky to know what to do with our hands during a photo shoot. How about holding a bouquet of dried lavender? This can help you create different poses, like close-ups of hands and flowers, offering the camera a wink from behind the bouquet, overhead shots of the bouquet against a blanket laid along the ground… have fun, be creative!

Accessories for your lavender farm photos

Don’t feel the need to leave accessories at home though!  Boy children look so cute in braces or a flat cap!  What little girl doesn’t love a floral headband!  Earrings, necklaces, hats are all welcome.  And if your child has a favourite (small, preferably neutrally coloured) teddy – feel free to bring them along too!

Be relaxed and enjoy your lavender photography

I will take a variety of photographs – individuals, pairings and family groups. If you’ve got something specific in mind, please do let me know!

I will guide you through the session to help you feel relaxed – most of my images with children are based on fun and games to keep everyone relaxed and capture natural expressions. The session will revolve entirely around the children, please try to ensure they are well rested and fed.

Weather

In the event of bad weather, I will always try to rearrange your booking for an alternative day wherever possible – please note that this is very much dependent on availability, and may be on a different day/time to your original booking

Your lavender field images

Your photographs will be ready to view in an online gallery, approximately 1 week after our photo shoot. You will receive 5 photos included in your mini session. The remaining images in your gallery can be purchased as digital files, according to my mini packages. Your gallery will be live for 7 days for you to make your selections.

I’m looking forward to meet you and to capture the magic of your family.
