Hello! I’m Diana, and if you’ve been searching for a family photographer in Portsmouth who cares more about real giggles than perfect posing, I’m so glad you found your way here. As a mum and a photographer, I know that the most precious memories aren’t usually the ones where everyone is sitting perfectly still. They’re the moments when your toddler is mid-laugh, your newborn is curled in your arms, or your family is simply enjoying a breezy afternoon on the coast.

Portsmouth is such a special place to call home. It has this incredible mix of grit and beauty, from the historic cobbles of Old Portsmouth to the wide-open horizons of Southsea. Whether you’ve lived on the island your whole life or you’re raising a new generation here, I love helping local families turn their everyday magic into something they can hold onto forever.

An enjoyable family photography experience

Before the photoshoot think about your outfit and how it can complement your surroundings. What you wear can really change the look and feel of your photographs. You can’t go wrong with white, cream, light grey and blue.

If you want to add a pop of colour yellow works well against the purple of the lavender. Dark or denim blue and fuchsia also make for great colour combinations against the lavender glow of the fields. Try to avoid wearing black.

The aim is for your family to look coordinated, but not matching. By choosing 2-3 colours for your family to wear, each family member will look different, but you will avoid looking too ‘busy’ (clashing colours, too many colours), or looking like one colour block (too much of the same colour).

Having fun is what’s important, so wear something that makes you feel wonderful. It will show in the photos!

Planning your Portsmouth family photo shoot

Once you’ve decided to book your session, which by the way is a click away, the planning starts. The first thing I’ve always do is to actually get in contact with you once you’ve booked your Portsmouth family photographer session to discuss the location setup, your expectations and the desired outcome from your chosen package.

Some people have an idea in their mind when comes to family photography, others are going with the photographer suggestions. Either way, you shouldn’t worry. My purpose is to capture your family at your convenience within established environment and most importantly you have the desired outcome from it.

Normally with the outdoor family Portsmouth photo shoot I know a number of beautiful locations, but I’m happy to work with your own suggestions. Some popular location are Southsea Beach, Old Portsmouth, Southsea Castle and Field, Canoe Lake, Portsdown Hill.
